Work went well. I am really pushing to get more stuff done at work. The Wiki is coming together nicely, and all the little pieces are grouped up and ready to be put together. For dinner I made Lentil Soup from scratch. I forgot how easy it is to make. It came out great and the kids loved it.
My sleep from last night was horrible. I didn’t want to use PTO, so I got up and headed to work. I am glad I headed into work today, some little issues arose but they were relatively easy to resolve. So, I worked on the company’s Wiki to make it relevant and made a home portal for my team. It’s not ready for prime time yet. I just need to clean up the portal and make it visually pleasing. That will be gotten to tomorrow. I went home and relaxed on the couch putting all my ideas for the new year in a notebook. I want to do a lot this year. I just need to fit it on my calendar while giving myself personal time to relax.
First day of work on this new year. I dragged my feet for most of the day but did manage to get all the things I dread doing for the week. At home I did my normal cleaning duties. After dinner I took a nap because I was tired. I’m not sure why I was tired since I did very little today. Before bed, my daughter and I read one of her books. She is shy about reading aloud and hoping she will get more comfortable reading with me every night. She is getting better. My new routine is getting there. It has been a slow process getting everything going. I am still putting things in my calendar and To Do list. Tomorrow I just need to have everything time blocked in and be done with it.
I woke up at 10 am. Rather late for me but I went to bed last night at 2 am. My right leg is sore from yesterday. One reason why I have started to work our everyday. Simple things like walking on the tread mill with weights. Starting off light and increasing the endurance. I spent most of the day cleaning out my shelves in the bedroom and respacing them out to hold my new cold weather boots. I used them yesterday and they felt nice. Good grip and amazingly comfortable.
I spent some time in the garage putting everything away from December. I had to move things around to get some projects done and didn’t put things back where they should. It looks much better now.
I had a small fire outside and caught up on reading my notes for the year.
As the year comes to a close, let’s raise a toast to the memories we’ve made, the lessons we’ve learned, and the people we’ve loved. May the new year bring us new opportunities, new adventures, and new beginnings. Let’s cherish the moments we have with our loved ones and make the most of every day. Here’s to a happy and prosperous new year! 🥂
Me and my daughter went geocaching this morning on Cougar Mountain. I had issues navigating to the trail head due to some road closures. The GPS on my phone is not reliable and will stop functioning. We managed to find 3 caches and headed home. We worked on reorganizing the kitchen and purged out a lot of containers we collected over the year.
I decided to get a new phone this afternoon. I was fed up with the GPS not functioning. So, I purchased a new Google Pixel 8 Pro. With the trade in it cost 120 dollars. It’s a nice phone. The optical zoom is rather good. I spent a few hours outside next to the fire installing and configuring all my apps.
I stayed up and brought in the new year with the family.
I spent time planning my week and putting all our goals and planning into OneNote. This will save us time and effort on our daily and weekly tasks like meal planning. I made a list of our common meals in a list; this will expand but it helps when you are overwhelmed with decisions and just want to make a quick meal plan for the coming week.
Today was cleaning the house and planning day. In the day we cleaned the house, and in the evening we planned out Meals (Breakfast, Lunch Dinner), Daily Todo, Travel (how to save money to travel more) outside next to a fire. We did a lot and were proud of everyone to get this all completed in one day. The kids had great ideas and solutions.
It was unusually warm today. I was wearing a T-shirt next to the fire and felt fine. I picked up my new snow boots this morning. They are The North Face Chilkat v400 boots. They feel light and comfortable. Nice boot for the price. I am planning to use them on my winter hikes and bike rides in the cascades.
Last day of work for this year. I get a 4-day weekend and am going to use it to clean the house, plan the family goals, and simplify our daily tasks. We will travel more this year. We used to do weekend travel around Washington and Oregon but stopped during the Pandemic. I am going to start doing it again. Keeping the budget tight will allow us to travel multiple times a month. It will be exciting to get out more and see the town off the beaten track. With the minivan it will be much easier to do this, and the kids are excited.
I am putting a plan into place to lower the travel costs so we can do more travel at a lower cost.
Today is the last day to come into the office this year. It was a rough start. That car wouldn’t start, and I had to jump the car this morning. I only spent 6 hours at work and headed home. Since I was the only manager here, I had quite a few questions from all the agents. I worked on formatting the SOP Wiki page, so it is visually pleasing. The Wiki is an outdated version of Doku Wiki and is quite simple.
I left early to get home so I can do a brain dump for all the work items that need to be done next month. There was too many distractions at work.
Spending a lot of time planning my weekly, monthly, and yearly goals. I’m really trying to do everything I can do this coming year. I have health, travel, and education goals this year. I feel that I have more time now and it is time to use it for personal development and do fun things I always wanted to do every day.
