Hectic day. I started work at home, then drove to work later in the morning, then drove home early, and completed the day in my home office. I am the only manager on duty and every team had questions about procedures. Something they should already know.
After work I washed clothes and cleaned out the house, putting gift bags away and clearing out the remaining boxes. The dishes are all caught up and the kitchen is back to normal. I’m tired but have a sense of accomplishment.

I slept in till 7 am this morning. Tired from yesterday’s cooking and baking. Santa brought presents for the kids. The kids loved all their presents. Spent a part of the day breaking down boxes and clearing out the Livingroom of gift wrapping. The kids spent most of the day playing with their toys while I made the Christmas Ham and sides.

We Skyped with my family in the evening. It was good to see them. I am planning to fly us early next year to see them.

Me and my son were up before sunrise. I drove to get donuts for breakfast. The sunrise was absolutely beautiful. Deep blues with reddish painted clouds across the sky. In the afternoon we made pierogies and Bacalao for dinner. There was a lot of work, but it was delicious. We let the kids open some of the presents before bed. After putting all the dishes away, I headed to bed.

I had a relaxing day at home. I played games with the kids and brought the whole family to the mall so my wife could see the snowfall they have at 6 pm. We got there early and walked around the mall. I went outside and played in the fake snow. The snow is made from bubbles which makes a surprisingly good snow effect. After 5 minutes they start clumping and you get exceptionally large globs of bubbles. No one cared, it was fun running around. Afterwards we headed inside to Duke’s Seafood for dinner. The food is good for the cost.  Once we left, we walked around the mall eating ice cream and catching Pokémon’s. We left late to allow the traffic to dissipate.

It was nice to get out of the house all together. Me and my wife’s work schedule don’t align, and it is special when it does.

I had the house to myself this morning. No work but the kids had to go to school. So, I just vegged out and did nothing. After lunch I took a nap on the couch. It rained much of the day, so I just wrote down my plans for next year for work. I have a lot of ideas and just need to implement them. I have already got started on some and need to improve on how I am doing them.  Next week I will be working for 3 days and hopefully get the Wiki Completed and the new Personal Agent training format done. These are the two big areas that need to be built. Without it the rest will not work.

I want my team to succeed this year, the issue is not only training for a specific subject but how they are handling the issues. Time management, process, procedures, and use of tools.

Today starts my four-day weekend. It was a long day at work and around the house. I ended the day outside next to the fire reading and brainstorming ideas to allow my team to improve next year. I talked to the director yesterday and figured out a way to work with the agents and give them a two hour break each week to work on their process of resolving issues. People get complacent on how they do things and do not try to improve their process or sharpen their tools. Starting next year, I am going to improve my team and have the training and methods being used for the rest of the teams across the Americas.

I have started the Wiki for my team this morning. Other agents that are not on my team reach out to me with process questions and wanting to expand their knowledge. I have opened all the training materials I developed for my team so other agents can learn. Next week I am going to clean up the format and make it more accessible to everyone.

Last day in the office for the week. Meetings went well and I got everything done. Christmas is coming up. All the presents are under the tree except for Santa’s. The kids are excited and so am I. Next week the kids have time off from school. I might have to go in the office for a day but hopefully not. I will be the only manager in the building for next week. It should be slow and not much to do.  It will be interesting.

I handed out all my presents to the agents I am responsible for. They were a big hit. They deserved it.  Today’s productivity went up and everyone was talking and having fun. Even after the weekly one on ones.
The rest of the day was work as usual for me. When I arrived home it was my typical household duties for Tuesday. For dinner we ate leftovers.

It rained most of the day and I didn’t start a fire to get through the wood pile. It was just too wet outside to enjoy it.

I finally got my weekly 1 on 1 at work underway with the new system. It did reduce the time of the meetings by half. I’m still organizing them better. Other than that, it was a normal Monday. After work I spent time with the kids and watched the new episode of Bob’s Burgers. It’s a great show to watch. It always makes me laugh. Before bedtime my son and I did some journal writing. He is having issues with school writing, and I think writing everyday will help him. His handwriting has improved. I am critical of good spelling. At his age he shouldn’t be getting any letter backwards or just sloppy writing. I requested him to take his time writing so each letter is legible. The hardest part is for him to think of what to write about. I understand his predicament. I had the same issue at his age. We think of what we did that day and what was fun or funny. After that he has a few ideas to write about and off he goes.

I can’t wait for Wednesday to give the agents the presents I bought. I really put a lot of my attention into it.

I woke up at my early time and went shopping for ingredients for the holiday pastries.  I hung out with my son talking about games and Pokémon cartoons. I went back to bed to get more rest. In the afternoon we made Gingerbread House and decorated them with an assortment of candies. In the evening we headed to the Harry Potter Experience in Bellevue. It was a bit pricey but the one-hour experience was fun. We all had fun. My wife loves Harry Potter and enjoyed it a lot.

I went to bed late so hopefully I will get enough rest for tomorrow.
