Packed up and ready for tomorrow’s hiking trip. Should be raining for most of the trip, so hopefully there shouldn’t be to many people on the trail. Updated the geocache info on my GPS. I spent over 30 minutes looking for something that didn’t exist.

A bit tired this morning. Stayed up reading Tales of the South Pacific & arround 3:30 am the house alarm tripped twice. Think I might have a rat in the garage. Spent most of the day outside enjoying the warm sunny weather.

Washed everyone’s clothes and bed sheets. Cleared out most of the kitchen and Livingroom. Tomorrow I will do the finishing touches. Chopped more wood and stacked it. Afterwards I ran arround with the kids to get some exercise for the day.

Made pies this morning with the kids for breakfast. In the afternoon we went for a bike ride through the park and ended up going arround a schools track for an hour. After dinner we played board and card games before bedtime. Incredibly fun day.

Lounged arround and did a little cleaning. In the afternoon we played hide and seek. During sunset we played soccer and playing catch in the backyard. It was fun teaching the kids how to catch and through the ball arround. Still working on soccer with them.

Spent the day cleaning off my hiking gear and getting it ready for the next hike. My audio recording didn’t go as planned and some of the pictures came out blurred. Not a big loss. Work in progress. Planning to do another hike very soon.

Nice day for a hike. Found 10 out of 11 geocaches. Started off hiking to the top of Wilderness Peak. Once on top of the mountain it was a nice down hill hike in the surrounding area locating geocaches and enjoying the views.

Went for a hike arround Cougar Mountain to located some geocaches. I started at 9 am on a cold morning. The trails started with very few people but by noon there were a quite a few. My first three geocaches took me over an hour to find. I started a few years ago but never really dedicated much time to the activity, hence why I am not very good at locating them. The pace at me finding caches increased throughout the journey. By the end of the day I much quicker finding them. My new system to navigate and locating the geocaches was a success. I got more proficient with the system and the process became quicker to implement through time. The system consists of some software on an old cell phone that is no longer in use. All the geocaches (including hints, descriptions, and logs) in the area are cached on the phone for offline use. I can use the built in GPS but choose a dedicated GPS to navigate. In addition I carry a SatCom that transmit my location every 10 minutes, more for me to be accustom carrying it and familiarizing myself with it.
The hike was beautiful, the weather was a bit chilly (34°F / 1°C) in the morning. I started the hike on a some what level trail which made it quick to get to my first geocache site. Later in the afternoon the terrain became more hilly. Traversing up and down ravines. It was well worth it, for the view and the water falls. By the late evening it started to rain. By the time I located the last geocache, the sun was well past the horizon. Hiking up hill in the dark for a mile to reach my car took allot of effort. I brought a flash light but wished I had my headlamp. I removed my headlamp at the last minute to same some weight. Will not make this mistake next time.
Over all it was a nice hike. Planning to come back here this coming Friday at another trail head.
Nothing out of the ordinary. Did some cleaning and made breakfast, lunch and dinner for the family. We went outside so they can practice catching and throwing the ball. Played hide and seek throughout the day. Eating healthy, I just need to excersise.
