Worked from home today. The week went quickly. I finally cleared off the office couch. I placed a small artificial grass plant on the desk. It really brightens up the place. I wish I could have a live plant, but my cats just eat them and eventually kills them. So, I have a plastic plant. It still looks good. I didn’t do very much work. I focused too much on the household duties instead of working on things the office pays me to do. I will need to focus tomorrow and get all the things I should have done today and what I need to do tomorrow. But I am happy with how my office looks and will enjoy the space more.

During my lunch break I cleared out all my social media off my phone. At this point Reddit snuck on my phone a week ago and noticed that I have been wasting my time on it. I got rid of X (formally Twitter) a few weeks ago. I got nothing out of it since it switched over to new management. It seems the people are leaving and being replaced with junk.

The only thing that sucks my time is YouTube. I will need to schedule time for YouTube and just not scroll through it wasting time. There are better things I can be doing.

It was a fun day. Today is my son’s birthday. After work I took the family to get macrons and play games at the local Arcade. Afterwards we had dinner at Genko Sushi. My son loves sushi and chose it for dinner.  Once dinner was finished, we headed home and played Mario Cart until bedtime.

I really should take the family out during the week. It was fun and we had an enjoyable experience. It seems we only do things over the weekend.

Work has officially become a routine. I have everything scheduled to the tee. I am finishing two projects, and my team is doing very well. It rained most of the day, so I didn’t venture out during work hours. The sun did manage to show during sunset on the drive home. I did my Tuesday chores when I got home. Tuesdays is the hardest days for me. I just have a lot to do with little hours to complete them, but it makes the rest of the week easier, especially my Fridays and weekends.

The drive to work is typically uneventful. The day before Halloween I noticed a person walking a large dog in a costume. They had a large jack-o-lantern head on with a black tattered hooded robe on. I thought it was pretty cool. This morning I saw the same dog and a lady wearing a white Victorian gown with a long black hooded coat on. I see them around 5:20 am next to the mall. I hope they do it more frequently. It makes my morning.

Work was slow.  I should have done more but felt lazy. I did my work but could have completed some tasks that needed to be done.

Once home we played Agent A together. We finished it before bedtime. It was a fun game that the whole family contributed to solve.  I wish there were a sequel.

Feel well rested thanks to daylight savings time shift. We headed to the mall to check out any place for my son’s birthday party. It looks like we will just have it at the arcade. For lunch we will go to the food court, and I will buy food for everyone. Every kid will have a card with credit on it. This will allow the kids to have more credit to spend on games and not spend money for a room no one will use.
In the evening we played Agent A more. Everyone is contributing to solving the problems. If we are stuck some will come up with an idea, they will solve the problem. It’s great.

Me and my son went shopping in the morning like we usually do on Saturday. We went to Costco and picked up food and some warm clothes for myself. Afterwards we headed back home to drop off the groceries and picked up the family and headed to Pike Place Market. I needed some loose team and spices, but also wanted to check out some candy stores. They were small but fun to check out. Kids loved the place. I allowed them to pick one item in the store to purchase. After walking around for 2 hours we headed to Spud Fish and Chips, on Seattle’s Alki Beach. The food is hot and delicious, plus it has a pleasant view.

Once home we had snacks and played Agent A. The whole family is really into the game. We played till 11 pm.

I worked from home and the kids had the day off from school today. I got them to clean out their rooms. Anything they don’t use, or need should be removed so we can give them away. They both did an amazing job. My daughter collects everything, and it is hard for her to give things up, even though she has no use for them or hold any value. My son has no issues getting rid of things he no longer needs or uses. After work we bought some discounted games in the Nintendo Switch store. We started to play Agent A, a puzzle game. It’s pretty fun.

I did nothing special today. Mostly working around the house catching up on household duties and coming up with new ideas for the team. They have done good and don’t want to make any drastic changes like I did for the last 3 months at the beginning of every month. It’s working but still needs improvement. At this point I just need to do some fine tweaking. But overall, they are doing well.

It was a good day at work. My team went from the lowest customer service score to the highest in the company. We lead 10 points from the closest team. The high performer program that I sent to the director was accepted. Now any high performer can work from home an extra day off per week. My group was ecstatic about it.

I need to do a write up on what I did to get the team to exceed so quickly. I have been managing them for 3 months now and they are impressed.

I dressed up as Stan Pines for Halloween. No one at work dressed up, so they thought it was my good look. When sitting in the office without a hat and glasses, most people thought it was my new look. Today I had to conduct an interview, so when people walked by and they asked me what I am going to do today, I said I had an interview to do later. They thought I was leaving the company. The director passed by asking if I was happy working at the company and if there was anything he could do. So, I asked him how the “Giving the agents an extra work from home day for agents that meet or exceeds expectation” going. He granted it immediately. It didn’t click in for me until we had our 1 on 1 meeting that everyone thought I was leaving the company because I was in a suite and said I was going to an interview.

I learned a few things from this experience. First, the company and agents in the team I run value me. Nothing pushes changes until they feel that they will lose something that is worth value to them. And wearing a suit to work is powerful.

The interview went poorly. The interviewee didn’t know anything about our company or the products we sell. Not even the basic question could be answered. The person had a great personality and would be an amazing person to be friends with. But they would do poorly at the job.

After work me and the kids went trick or treating, got some candy, but there were not a lot of lights on. Back at home I set up nine tiki torches in the front yard and a fire pit to keep warm waiting for the kids to arrive. The house was lit up. you could guide ships into safe harbour in a storm with this much light. We only had a few kids come over, most likely because it was a Tuesday.
