I was awakened in the middle of the night by my wife indicating that the ceiling in the bathroom was leaking. I spent 35 minutes locating the leak. It was coming from a sewage vent pipe from the roof. The rainwater ran down the pipe and into the bathroom. Once the wind died down the water stopped coming in. There was some water that came in, but not very much. I dried the area and left the ceiling in the bathroom open to dry what is left. I will place the board back up tomorrow. Work was hectic. A lot of things to do. Once I was off work, I relaxed and watched tv before I made dinner. I did more laundry to end the day. I am very tired and can’t wait to go to sleep.

I had a good day at work. The team is doing well, and I got all my tasks completed today. The house is ready for the upcoming storm. I worry about the high winds and heavy rain. The roof doesn’t do well in high winds. I am hopeful that it will keep the water out.

I got out of bed around 7:30 am and headed to the living room to get the day started. I watched some tv with my son and played a game with him. I was much more tired than I thought and fell asleep for another 2 hours. After waking up from the nap, I felt a lot better. Watched the Seahawks beat the Arizona Cardinals by one point. Afterwards I helped my son make dinner. More of a supervisor than actually doing any of the work. He feels more comfortable in the kitchen. We loaded up the dishwasher and watched some more tv before bed.

I did another full day at work. I can see the progress I have made with the Wiki and the Presentation Slides. I am introducing more information in my weekly meeting to be sure everyone is on the same page and up to date with the goings on at the company. I am testing out a new text expander software called aText. It looks better than what the company is using but I am not able to import/export between them. I will need to spend time manually copying everything over. It should take about 2 hours to do.

In the evening I started a new after dinner routine. Instead of watching tv or playing video games, we do something else. Each night is something different.  Tonight, we played a board game and on Sunday will be Baking something. It was nice to have the TV off and no music. Just use talking and having fun. This year I am making big changes to what we do or what we purchase. I want more experiences and less watching TV. We are going to start to get out of the house more like we did before Covid. I still need to figure out something to go to this Sunday. Tomorrow I am going shopping and getting the house ready for the below freezing temperatures coming this coming week. I am expecting power outages.

Work went well. I am really pushing to get more stuff done at work. The Wiki is coming together nicely, and all the little pieces are grouped up and ready to be put together. For dinner I made Lentil Soup from scratch. I forgot how easy it is to make. It came out great and the kids loved it.

My sleep from last night was horrible. I didn’t want to use PTO, so I got up and headed to work. I am glad I headed into work today, some little issues arose but they were relatively easy to resolve.  So, I worked on the company’s Wiki to make it relevant and made a home portal for my team. It’s not ready for prime time yet. I just need to clean up the portal and make it visually pleasing. That will be gotten to tomorrow. I went home and relaxed on the couch putting all my ideas for the new year in a notebook. I want to do a lot this year. I just need to fit it on my calendar while giving myself personal time to relax.

First day of work on this new year. I dragged my feet for most of the day but did manage to get all the things I dread doing for the week. At home I did my normal cleaning duties. After dinner I took a nap because I was tired. I’m not sure why I was tired since I did very little today. Before bed, my daughter and I read one of her books. She is shy about reading aloud and hoping she will get more comfortable reading with me every night. She is getting better.
My new routine is getting there. It has been a slow process getting everything going. I am still putting things in my calendar and To Do list. Tomorrow I just need to have everything time blocked in and be done with it.

I woke up at 10 am. Rather late for me but I went to bed last night at 2 am. My right leg is sore from yesterday. One reason why I have started to  work our everyday. Simple things like walking on the tread mill with weights. Starting off light and increasing the endurance. I spent most of the day cleaning out my shelves in the bedroom and respacing them out to hold my new cold weather boots. I used them yesterday and they felt nice. Good grip and amazingly comfortable.

I spent some time in the garage putting everything away from December. I had to move things around to get some projects done and didn’t put things back where they should. It looks much better now.

I had a small fire outside and caught up on reading my notes for the year.

Me and my daughter went geocaching this morning on Cougar Mountain. I had issues navigating to the trail head due to some road closures. The GPS on my phone is not reliable and will stop functioning. We managed to find 3 caches and headed home. We worked on reorganizing the kitchen and purged out a lot of containers we collected over the year.

I decided to get a new phone this afternoon. I was fed up with the GPS not functioning. So, I purchased a new Google Pixel 8 Pro.  With the trade in it cost 120 dollars. It’s a nice phone. The optical zoom is rather good. I spent a few hours outside next to the fire installing and configuring all my apps.

I stayed up and brought in the new year with the family.

I spent time planning my week and putting all our goals and planning into OneNote. This will save us time and effort on our daily and weekly tasks like meal planning. I made a list of our common meals in a list; this will expand but it helps when you are overwhelmed with decisions and just want to make a quick meal plan for the coming week.
