Adjusted my kit for my hike.  Should rain throughout the day tomorrow. Repacked water sensitive items in bags. Added a pouch on the waist belt for all my navigational items. GPS & satcom affixed to the side of my backpack via Velcro molle patches with cordage connecting the device to the pack incase it detaches from the Velcro. Used some shock cord and attached it to my backpack so I can quickly store my hiking poles without taking my pack off. I can store them on the go without stopping. I’m constantly honing in the pack. Removing things, adding and moving things arround. A new item I am bringing is an old smart phone that has been configured specifically for hiking / camping. It contains maps, geocaches, satcom software and everything I need without internet connection. It’s in a waterproof case to boot. Tomorrow’s hike will be a great place to test it out.  I planning to do a write up on the configuration of my pack and what I carry for a day hike compared to a multi day hike.

Spent the day working on the house. We did manage to get out of the house and play in the backyard. Most of my parts and supplies arrived today for my upcoming hiking trip.  Still missing a part. Hope it comes in time.

Snow has mostly melted away. The sunset was amazing with deep blue and purplish hues. I’m planning for an all day geocaching trip for this week. Finished kitting my backpack for the trip. Will be out, rain or shine.

Stayed up way too late last night figuring out how to Geocache while being offline with all the info I need to help me find caches in the mountains without printing out each site’s page. Just want to use my GPS and old mobile phone (to cache all the info on each site automatically for a certain area). At noon I went to Cougar Mt to test the new system in the snow. Worked great. I only found 1 out of 4. The system worked, I just had a hard time finding them in the deep snow. I was lucky to find one. My plan is to go back on Friday and see how many I can find in a day.

Woke up to 5 inches of snow. We immediately went outside and played in the snow.  It snowed all day, we have about 6 inches from the last time we where out there. Very tired, played outside for half of the day.

Cleared the yard from the kids toys. Planning to make a snow fort with the kids once we get a few inches of snow. Chopped more wood this afternoon. I think I am more excited for the snow then the kids.
